Since I have to move in a year I figured this as a better alternative to building a shed that I’d have to break down and move with me. I toyed with getting a 10x20 canopy from Menards but It didn’t seem worth the cash. I have sturdier lawn furniture.
I still need sides and a load of pea gravel for the base but it should do well. And all the kids can stay clean and dry until it’s time to play.

Is that one big tarp? Looped to serve as ceiling, wall, and floor?

Yeah. I had a few Menards “Rebate” checks to cash out. I got the Tarp, some screws, a couple of frozen Pizzas, deoderant.. Menards has become a weird place.

Get some chains to lock those up too.

So the pea gravel’s going to go... on top of the tarp floor? To hold it down and keep the wall taut, I guess?

It really has. Last time I ended up buying rootbeer instead of whatever it was I went there for.

Sounds silly but yes. Think Redneck Garden Shed.

Eh, it’d be silly if you tried to have the tarp over the gravel. Your plan makes more sense.

Not in my hood.

Im not 100% on gravel yet. There are a couple of 5/4 plywood pallets at work that I’d prefer. Up off the dirt is the goal.

Ive done that too! They’re the only ones that carry Dr. Ts mosquito repellant as well. Good stuff.

I’ll have to try it out.

It works well in a suburban environment. I still have to use my fogger with it here.

That deck looks...is worrisome. There are no footings, just those concrete post bases? That’s quite a large and tall deck to be on just those things. And being that you went to Menards you have to be in the midwest. At least the rest of it looks like it was done properly.

I was worried when I moved in but it’s stable. My neighborhood is in a flood plain and the land is all owned by the Corps of Engineers on a 99 year lease. One rule is no new permanent structures can be built so the concrete “stands” (?) are a workaround. All the homes here have something similar. I wouldn’t put 15 people on it but for me and the Dog? It’s fine.

I guess if that’s the only way to build a deck i would do that too. As long as it seems solid.
